# King Hyunjong of Goryeo Makes a Final Decision in the Midst of the 'Goryeo-Mongol War' Crisis

The latest episode of KBS 2TV's historical drama 'Goryeo-Mongol War' aired last night, and it was full of intense and dramatic scenes. As the internal rebellion successfully forces King Hyunjong to surrender, the power-hungry Prime Minister Choi Jil continues to wreak havoc in the capital city of Kaesong. He demands that the Emperor appoints Park Jin as the governor of Kaesong and restructures the government to his liking, causing outrage among the officials.

 

In the midst of this chaos, General Gang Gam-chan (played by Kim Dong-jun) finally explodes in anger towards Prime Minister Choi Jil, who is pressuring the Emperor to send a tribute to the Mongols. In the released stills, we can see General Gang Gam-chan confronting Prime Minister Choi Jil with a fiery expression, unable to contain his rage any longer. Meanwhile, the officials who can no longer tolerate Prime Minister Choi Jil's unreasonable demands engage in a physical fight with his supporters.

In a surprising turn of events, King Hyunjong himself comes down from his throne and announces that he will personally go to the Mongols to send the tribute. This decision shocks the officials, who immediately kneel down in front of the King to stop him. The question remains, why did King Hyunjong make this decision and will General Gang Gam-chan and the officials be able to save Goryeo from this crisis?

As a fan of historical dramas, I am always fascinated by the decision-making process of the rulers during times of war and crisis. It is interesting to see how King Hyunjong, who has been portrayed as a weak and indecisive ruler, finally takes a stand and makes a bold move. I am eagerly waiting to see how this decision will impact the future of Goryeo and its people.
