# A 2000s Interpretation of 90s Hip Hop: PIWONHARMONY's Debut Album Release
PIWONHARMONY, a group composed of all 2000s-born members, held a showcase on the 5th of August in Seoul, South Korea to introduce their first full-length album, 'Killin' It'. During the showcase, they shared their thoughts on their album, saying, "Think of a solid bass and baggy pants... How would 2000s-borns interpret 90s hip hop?"
Their title track, 'Killin' It', showcases the group's interpretation of 90s hip hop. Member Jiwoong explained, "The track has a minimalistic composition with addictive synths on top of an 808 bass. We added a rap flow with a sense of rhythm." He added, "It may be difficult for us to fully understand the 90s hip hop sentiment, but we tried to incorporate our own interpretation into the song."
Member Kiho said, "Doesn't music revolve around and around? It feels like we naturally encountered the song with our own interpretation."
PIWONHARMONY made their debut in 2020 and has been establishing their unique color through their mini-album series, 'DISHARMONY' and 'HARMONY'. Last year, they made their mark on the US Billboard 200 chart, reaching 51st place with their 6th mini-album. They also performed at the US music festival, Jingle Ball Tour, in the same year.
Their first full-length album, released after 3 years since their debut, carries the theme of "PIWONHARMONY is the real hero" and showcases the members' confidence. Member Jongsub participated in writing lyrics for all the tracks, while Kiho, Jiwoong, and Intak also contributed to some of the lyrics and composition.
