3.1 Resting Day Envy.. Enhypen Japanese Member Ni-ki Controversial Comment Leads to Apology
# 3.1 Resting Day Envy.. Enhypen Japanese Member Ni-ki, Controversial Comment Leads to Apology
Enhypen, a popular boy group, has recently faced controversy due to a comment made by their Japanese member, Ni-ki, regarding Korea's national holiday, March 1st. The incident has sparked discussions among fans and netizens, ultimately leading to an apology from the group.
On March 29th, Ni-ki engaged in a conversation with fans through the communication platform Weverse. In response to a fan's message about Korea's national holiday, Ni-ki replied, "Is tomorrow a red day?" When another fan clarified that it was March 1st, Ni-ki responded with "I'm jealous." This exchange quickly spread through online communities, causing fans to express their concerns and disappointment.
Netizens criticized Ni-ki for not knowing the significance of March 1st and for not showing respect towards the country where he is currently promoting. Some even pointed out that Ni-ki's comment reflects a lack of understanding of Korean history and culture. As the controversy grew, Ni-ki deleted his post and issued an apology, stating that he was sorry for his careless comment and that he will be more mindful in the future.
This is not the first time that Enhypen has faced backlash due to a member's comment about Korean history. Last year, member Jay also sparked controversy with his remark about the lack of information on Korean history. These incidents have raised concerns among fans about the group's understanding and appreciation of Korean culture.
As a fan of Enhypen, I believe that it is essential for idols to educate themselves about the country they are promoting in and to show respect towards its history and culture. While it is understandable that Ni-ki and Jay may not have grown up learning about Korean history, as international members, it is their responsibility to educate themselves and be mindful of their words. I hope that Enhypen will take this incident as a learning opportunity and continue to grow as a group that represents both Korea and Japan.
