Resilience of a Late Bloomer Jumin Gyu Opens Up About His Struggles to Overcome the Desire to Give Up
# Late Bloomer Jumin Gyu Finally Reveals His Inner Struggles: There Were Many Moments When I Wanted to Give Up
At the age of 33, Jumin Gyu, a member of Ulsan Hyundai, finally opened up about his struggles and perseverance in life as he proudly displayed the Taeguk mark on his chest for the first time. He admitted that he had been through a lot of pain and moments of wanting to give up, but he never gave up and kept pushing forward.
On the 12th of March, Jumin Gyu, a striker for Ulsan HD, started in the second leg of the 2023-24 AFC Champions League Round of 8 against Jeonbuk Hyundai at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium. He played a crucial role in Ulsan's 1-0 victory.
Not only did he stay in the front line as a striker, but he also dropped back to the midfield and even the center line to help with Ulsan's attack. He drew the Jeonbuk defenders out, creating space for players like Um Won-sang and Lee Sang-heon, and fought against the opposition's defense. Jumin Gyu's ability to play with his back to the goal was on full display during the game.
The victory against Jeonbuk was a significant milestone for Jumin Gyu. In March, he was called up to the national team for the first time in his life, just before the international matches. He played against Jeonbuk, one of his biggest rivals, and secured a win. Moreover, he once again caught the attention of national team coach Hwang Sun-hong and his coaching staff, who were present at the game.
After the match, Jumin Gyu met with reporters, and the questions about his national team call-up kept pouring in. He had previously mentioned that he would share his thoughts on his first call-up after the Jeonbuk game.
"I am extremely grateful for everyone's interest in my national team call-up, but at the same time, I had an important game to focus on, so I didn't want to talk about it. But now that we have won, I am happy to talk about it," Jumin Gyu said.
He continued, "It took a long time for me to get here, but I never gave up. I am proud of myself for persevering and finally achieving my dream of playing for the national team."
As a late bloomer myself, I can relate to Jumin Gyu's struggles and admire his resilience and never-give-up attitude. It is a reminder that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Jumin Gyu's journey is an inspiration to all late bloomers out there, and I am excited to see him continue to shine on the field.
