According to a report by News1 on the 3rd, on the 2nd, a netizen uploaded a 10-second video with the caption, "The woman on the left is Tanaka Mamiko, who is rumored to be Ohtani Shohei's marriage partner. She's so cute and pretty." In the video, three women are seen dancing together with the caption, "We are actually 180cm tall."

Last month on the 29th, Ohtani himself announced his marriage through his Instagram. He wrote, "Today, I want to announce to everyone that I got married," and only introduced his spouse as a Japanese person. He also asked for privacy regarding his family as he will be giving an interview the next day.

On the same evening, Japanese media outlet 'News Post Seven' reported that Tanaka is a strong candidate to be Ohtani's wife. According to the report, Tanaka, a former basketball player, is 180cm tall and was also selected as a candidate for the Japanese national team in 2021. After retiring from active duty in the 2022-2023 season, Tanaka deleted her Instagram account.

He also shared that they first met while practicing together, saying, "It wasn't at the gym, but probably during practice. I didn't realize it was the first time my wife met me."
