Nam Joo-hyuk Indicted on Charges of School Violence and Defamation as Reported by Journalist and Informant

 

# NamJooHyuk Accusers Charged with Defamation for False School Violence Allegations

Recently, it was announced that the journalist and informant who accused actor NamJooHyuk of school violence have been charged with defamation. The allegations, which were made public in June 2022, were found to be false and damaging to NamJooHyuk's reputation.

According to legal sources, the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office charged the journalist and informant with defamation under the Information and Communication Network Act on August 8th. The prosecution determined that the accusations made against NamJooHyuk were baseless and caused harm to his reputation.

 

The informant had claimed that NamJooHyuk and a group of friends had subjected them to years of school violence. However, it was later revealed that the informant did not go through the proper channels to verify the information before making it public. NamJooHyuk and his agency had previously stated that they were willing to take legal action against those who spread false accusations.

The decision to charge the accusers with defamation is known as "informal prosecution," where the prosecution requests a fine or penalty instead of a formal trial. If the accused or the court does not object, the penalty becomes final.

As a fan of NamJooHyuk, I am relieved to see that the truth has come to light and that justice is being served. It is unfortunate that false accusations can have such a damaging effect on someone's reputation, and I hope this serves as a lesson to always verify information before making it public.
