It's official - versatile actor Jung Sang-hoon has been confirmed to star in MBC's new two-part one-act drama 'I Hate Tonkatsu'.

The drama follows the story of a village playboy named 'Baek-gu' who suddenly finds himself in a predicament when the village leader, who was planning to neuter him, ends up getting a gender reassignment surgery and becomes just like 'Baek-gu'. It's a hilarious and heartwarming human comedy that will have viewers laughing and falling in love with the charming characters.

'I Hate Tonkatsu' was selected as the best one-act drama in MBC's 2023 drama script competition, with judges praising its "cute and comical situations, endearing characters, and a solid and enjoyable story". The script was written by up-and-coming writer No Ye-ri, who has a background in variety shows. The production team wasted no time in bringing the script to life, and after just one year, it will be premiering on MBC's primetime slot. This is a testament to MBC Drama Studio's exceptional planning and production skills, as they provided a one-stop solution for early production, including tailored directing, producing mentoring, interviews, and on-set visits.

In 'I Hate Tonkatsu', Jung Sang-hoon plays the role of a father of three mischievous boys and the village leader who is also running for re-election. He finds himself in a relatable situation when his wife unexpectedly becomes pregnant while they were planning to neuter their dog, 'Baek-gu'. As a fan of Jung Sang-hoon, I am thrilled to hear about his new project with MBC. I have no doubt that he will bring his signature wit and charm to the role of 'Baek-gu' and make the character his own. I am also excited to see how the drama will tackle the topic of gender reassignment surgery in a comedic and heartwarming way. 'I Hate Tonkatsu' is definitely a must-watch for any fan of Jung Sang-hoon, MBC dramas, and one-act dramas in general.
