The ongoing clash between production company Ace Story and producer Ahn Sang-hwi PD over 'SNL Korea' has been intensifying for the past two days.

It all started with Ahn Sang-hwi PD's accusations on the 25th. The PD claimed, "Ace Story has been engaging in unfair practices such as habitual late payment of appearance fees and forcing 'slave contracts' by demanding a transfer fee of 7 billion won for the expiration of the contract period."

 

In response, Ace Story refuted, "In our 20 years of operation, Ace Story has never once delayed payment of appearance fees." They also announced that they have filed a lawsuit for damages against Coupang's subsidiary CP Entertainment and Ahn Sang-hwi PD, claiming that they were robbed of 'SNL Korea'.

On the same day, Ahn Sang-hwi PD released a statement once again, stating, "The consulting contract between Ahn Sang-hwi and Ace Story will expire on December 14, 2023, and Ahn Sang-hwi has no obligations towards Ace Story." He also added, "The 7 billion won transfer fee that Ace Story is claiming from Ahn Sang-hwi has no basis and is simply an attempt to tarnish Ahn Sang-hwi and 'SNL Korea' season 5." He clarified, "Ace Story is claiming that Ahn Sang-hwi was an executive at Ace Story, but this is not true."

On the 26th, Ace Story released another statement refuting the claims. They stated, "In 2017, when 'SNL' was revived as a popular variety show, Coupang and Ahn Sang-hwi lured the employees of Ace Story's variety show department and took over the department." They continued, "Ahn Sang-hwi is using the term 'transfer fee' but in reality, it was a case of Ace Story's variety show department being forcefully taken over."

It is clear that the clash between Ace Story and Ahn Sang-hwi PD over 'SNL Korea' is far from over. As a fan of the show, I am disappointed to see such conflicts arise. It is important for all parties involved to come to a fair resolution and for the show to continue without any further disruptions. I hope that both sides can find a way to resolve their differences and work together for the success of 'SNL Korea'."
