Korean Traditional Music Takes Center Stage at 'Nationwide Singing Contest' in Gwangju Celebrating Talented Artists Shin Yu Park Sang-min and Kim So-yeon
[News Culture Reporter Kwon Subin] The Korean Music Festival is about to get even more exciting with the participation of talented pansori performers from the southern region.
On the 21st at 12:10 PM, KBS1's "National Singing Contest" will air its "Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Special," featuring a special stage set up at the state-of-the-art Ssangam Park. The stage will showcase the lively atmosphere of the singing contest.
The Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Special will feature many traditional music talents. Gwangju, known for its traditional music based on the Seopeonje, has been designated as the first intangible cultural heritage of the southern region. Many renowned performers from the area will participate in the singing contest, including college students majoring in traditional arts, 20-something contestants working at the Traditional Culture Center, and local creators of traditional music. They will enchant the audience with their performances of "Chunhyangga," "Sukdaemori," and "Jindo Arirang," receiving thunderous applause from the audience.
Kim Shin-young, known for her exceptional pansori skills, will also showcase her love for the southern region through a special food segment. She will indulge in the delicious local specialties, such as thick galbi and king galbitang, and capture the hearts of the locals with her charming food mukbang.
But that's not all. Many contestants will also grace the stage in beautiful hanboks, adding a touch of traditional elegance to the singing contest. With the perfect blend of traditional music and food, the Korean Music Festival is sure to be a feast for the senses.
In addition to the 15 finalists, popular singers such as Kim Sung-hwan, Shin Yoo, Park Sang-min, Park Joo-hee, and Kim So-yeon will also make special appearances, adding to the excitement and energy of the festival.
The production team of "National Singing Contest" expressed their admiration for the participants, saying, "Gwangju Gwangsan-gu truly lives up to its reputation as the birthplace of southern pansori. The talented traditional music performers and their unique charms made it difficult for us to choose the winners."
As a fan of traditional Korean music and culture, I am eagerly looking forward to the Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Special of the Korean Music Festival. It's a great opportunity to appreciate the beauty and diversity of our traditional music and to support the talented performers who are keeping our cultural heritage alive. Don't miss out on this exciting event!
