On the recent episode of KBS Joy's 'Ask Anything', a man in his 60s who had spent 30 years as a monk opened up about his desire to find a companion.
The 63-year-old man, who had recently left the monastery after 30 years of monastic life, appeared on the show on the 22nd. He shared that he had been torn between marriage and monastic life at the age of 32, but ultimately chose a life of devotion and painting. He said, "I always dreamed of painting Eastern art. I used to live in a temple and paint before I became a monk. I thought it would be great to paint and live as a monk at the same time. I was 32 years old at the time."

He continued, "I thought I couldn't become a monk if I didn't do it now. I believed I could get married later. So, I chose monastic life for my dream." He also added, "I've been alone my whole life." He then revealed his worries about whether someone like him could find a partner.

When asked if his desire to leave the monastery was because of a potential partner, he jokingly replied, "It could have been." When host Lee Soo Geun asked if he was currently in a relationship, the man replied with a smile, "Not now, but it's not like I've never been in one before."
He then shared, "There were times when I had feelings for someone, but I couldn't express them because I was a monk."
"Seolhyun is my ideal type, but I also like older women."
When asked about his ideal type, the man replied, "I don't want to have a specific style or set conditions for my partner. That's just being picky."
As someone who has been single for a long time, I can understand the man's desire to find a companion. It's not easy to live alone for so many years, and it takes courage to open up about one's feelings and desires. I hope he finds someone who will appreciate and understand his unique life experiences. As for his ideal type, I believe that love knows no boundaries and age is just a number. It's all about finding someone who truly understands and supports you. Who knows, maybe his ideal type is just around the corner.
