The latest single from girl group (G)I-DLE, 'Wife', has been deemed unsuitable for broadcast due to its overly suggestive lyrics. KBS announced today (24th) that the song did not pass their music review.
Released on the 22nd, 'Wife' was written, composed, and arranged by member Soyeon. However, shortly after its release, the song sparked controversy for its sexual undertones in some of the lyrics.
In addition, their upcoming single 'Rollie', set to be released on the 29th, also received an unsuitable rating for mentioning a specific brand.
With their second full album '2' including both of these songs set to be released on the 29th, there is still some time before their debut. However, (G)I-DLE's agency has yet to release an official statement regarding the situation.
As a fan of (G)I-DLE, I am disappointed to hear about the controversy surrounding their new songs. While I understand the need for music to go through a review process, I also believe in the creative freedom of artists. I hope that (G)I-DLE and their agency can come to a resolution that satisfies both parties and allows them to continue sharing their music with the world."
