Daejeon City Symphony Orchestra's first 'Matinee Concert' of the year is coming soon.
Starting in 2020, the 'Matinee Concert' was planned to bring fun music stories to the audience, along with performances by the next generation of conductors leading the classical music scene.

This year's 'Matinee Concert 1' theme is 'Romantic'. The concert promises to present various music and lovely stories with a soft touch.
The performance will be held on February 29 at 11am at the Small Courtyard of Daejeon City Traditional Music Institute.
The first stage of the year will feature conductor Cha Woong, who is actively performing in Europe and Asia, and will perform Shchedrin's 'Carmen Suite' to tell the story of 'A Passionate Woman, Carmen'.
Based on Bizet's opera 'Carmen', Russian composer Shchedrin created the 'Carmen Suite' specifically for his wife and prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Ballet, Maya Plisetskaya, who had been in her prime for over 20 years.
The unique arrangement of string and percussion instruments, without any wind instruments, combined with the composer's creative ideas, creates a new ballet piece for Plisetskaya. This performance is a must-see for anyone who loves ballet or is interested in classical music.
