An Jaehong is a chameleon. It's not his face that changes, but rather his roles. Every time he takes on a new character, his previous appearance becomes unrecognizable.
Last year, An Jaehong shocked audiences with his transformation as the otaku boss, Joo Onam, in the Netflix original series "Mask Girl." This led to rumors of his retirement. However, in the new Tving original series "LTNS," directed by Lim Daehyung and Jeon Goun, An Jaehong once again surprises us with his role as Samuel, a taxi driver who catches cheating couples. This has sparked retirement rumors once again, as he continues to shock us with his ever-changing appearances.
In "Mask Girl," based on the popular webtoon of the same name, An Jaehong played Joo Onam, the boss and ultimate fan of Mask Girl . He gained 10kg and even underwent special makeup to fully transform into Joo Onam. But it wasn't just his appearance that changed. He also showcased Joo Onam's otaku side by speaking Japanese and even showed his character's lack of dating experience by celebrating his birthday alone with a life-sized doll.
The pinnacle of Joo Onam's character was when he finally confessed his love to Kim Momi . In the office, he shouted, "Momi, I love you. Aishiteru!" and she responded with a kiss, saying, "Why are you saying this now?" It was a scene straight out of Joo Onam's imagination.
Interestingly, the line where he declares his love in Japanese was not in the script. An Jaehong improvised it, adding a personal touch to his character.
In "LTNS," An Jaehong once again surprises us with his role as Samuel, a shy husband who catches cheating couples. This time, he doesn't undergo any physical changes, but his character is just as captivating. He portrays Samuel's shyness and awkwardness perfectly, making us root for him as he navigates through his marriage.
An Jaehong's ability to transform into such diverse characters is truly impressive. He brings each character to life with his own personal touch, making them unforgettable. It's no wonder he's become known as the "retirement specialist" in the industry.
