# Hong Sangsoo Wins Jury Prize at Berlin Film Festival

Director Hong Sangsoo attended the 74th Berlin Film Festival without his partner Kim Minhee, and won the Jury Prize for the second time.

On the 24th, at the 74th Berlin Film Festival, Hong Sangsoo won the Silver Bear Jury Prize for his new film 'The Traveler's Necessity'.

Previously, Hong Sangsoo won the Silver Bear Jury Prize for his film 'The Novelist' in 2022. He once again achieved the honor of winning the Jury Prize.

Hong Sangsoo said, "I am grateful to the jury. I don't know what they saw in my film. I am curious." He also expressed his gratitude to Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian, saying, "He invited me a lot. I am grateful for his empathy towards my film."

'The Traveler's Necessity' is Hong Sangsoo's 31st feature film, which tells the story of Iris , who comes from France to Korea and teaches French to Koreans while drinking makgeolli.

Kim Minhee, Hong Sangsoo's partner, was also credited as a producer for 'The Traveler's Necessity', but she was unable to attend the 74th Berlin Film Festival due to personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Hong Sangsoo previously won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival for 'The Woman Who Ran' in 2020, the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival for 'Introduction' in 2021, and the Silver Bear Jury Prize at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival for 'The Story of the Novel' in 2022.
