Not Just Simple K-Pop Literary Elements in the Lyrics of Le Seraphim
# Not Just Simple K-Pop: Literary Elements in the Lyrics of Le Seraphim
Le Seraphim, a rising K-pop group, is gaining attention once again for their upcoming comeback on the 19th with their new mini album 'EASY'. This time, their songs with literary elements are the talk of the town.
On the 8th, Le Seraphim revealed the track list for their third mini album 'EASY'. The first track, 'Good Bones', was pre-released through the first album trailer on the 26th of last month, gathering attention with its powerful narration such as "The world is equally cruel to everyone / The remaining half is up to us."
Global K-pop fandoms paid special attention to the title and message of 'Good Bones'. This is because the song was inspired by the poem of the same name by American poet Maggie Smith. Even before the detailed information about the song was released, fans were already connecting the poem and the narration of the new song, saying "It resonates with the stories Le Seraphim has been telling so far." This reaction quickly spread through social media, adding fuel to the excitement for their comeback.
Le Seraphim has been consistently trying to fuse music and literature since their debut. Songs that incorporate elements from well-known myths or fairy tales make it easier for international listeners who are new to Le Seraphim to step into the team's narrative.
Their first full-length album 'Unforgiven', released in May last year, included the track 'Eve, Psyche, and the Bluebeard's Wife', which was inspired by classics and myths. The song 'Break the Taboo' offered a new perspective on the theme of the original work, interpreting it as 'growing towards a new world'. Another track on the same album, 'Fire in the Valley', tells the story of a whale who escapes from its belly by lighting a fire, similar to Pinocchio, and highlights the passion in one's heart.
As a fan of both K-pop and literature, I am excited to see Le Seraphim incorporating literary elements into their music. It not only adds depth and meaning to their songs, but also makes it more relatable to a wider audience. I can't wait to see what other literary inspirations they will bring in their future releases.
