Singer TaejinAh is using his voice to bring comfort to his wife, Okkyung, who is battling Alzheimer's disease.

On the upcoming episode of TV Chosun's variety show "Love of Joseon," airing on December 12 at 10 PM, TaejinAh will open up about his wife's condition and their journey together.

Known affectionately as "Okkyung," TaejinAh's wife, Lee Okhyung, will be revealed to the public for the first time on the show.

 

During the episode, TaejinAh accompanies Okkyung to her medical check-up. He recalls the moment when she was first diagnosed with dementia, saying, "I couldn't believe it. I thought it couldn't be true, but the doctor confirmed it."

As they arrive at the hospital, Okkyung is greeted with a simple question, "Did you have breakfast?" to which she responds, "No." TaejinAh explains, "She doesn't remember if she ate or not." It's a heartbreaking moment for him.

Facing the doctor, TaejinAh shares, "My wife has been crying a lot in the evenings, but now she cries sometimes and other times she doesn't." He also reveals that she often asks to go home after 4-5 PM.

The doctor explains that dementia tends to worsen in the evenings and that Okkyung may have progressed from the early stages to the middle stages of the disease. He also emphasizes the importance of the caregiver's efforts in managing the symptoms and providing stability for the patient.

TaejinAh asks if singing together and watching his appearances on TV can be helpful. The doctor responds, "Stimulating her with music and singing along can be beneficial. It's important to provide constant stimulation and care."
